Overview

This senior specialist will provide subject matter expertise regarding the design and implementation of interventions not covered by other child development program support specialists in the national office. Depending on the staffing, these interventions may include WaSH, infrastructure, disaster response, income generation, parental education and similar activities. This role will collaborate with other Support Specialists, Program Trainers and the Partnership team to ensure Compassion staff and Implementing Church Partners are collaborating in the design, delivery and monitoring of interventions related to their expertise. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: This position will be based remotely in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. Only applicants from these countries will be considered. 

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate for children. Understands and advances Christ's mandate to protect children. Raises awareness of the needs of children and takes active steps to help protect against neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. Promotes the dignity, respect, positive treatment, potential of children in all circumstances. Encourages the involvement of others in helping children in need. Reports and appropriately supports responses to incidents of harm of children if they occur.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to leadership in developing national intervention strategies.

  • Collaboratively designs/plans interventions aligned with the national strategy.
  • Supports implementation and reporting of interventions.
  • Stays current with national policies, industry standards and best field practices.
  • Develops and maintains networks for partnerships, strategic alliances and local resource mobilization.
  • Uses programmatic data to improve intervention effectiveness.
  • Understands the other funding needs to achieve holistic child development outcomes and mobilizes resources (both Compassion and non-Compassion) to meet those needs. 
  • Manages at least one direct report and coaches and provides expertise to other staff.

 

Qualifications

Faith

  • Mature Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is above reproach in integrity and honesty.


Culture

  • Accountable for supporting, upholding, and engaging in Compassion's core "Cultural Behaviors" in all internal and external communication and relationships.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.


Work Experience/competencies

  • Ten years' experience working in this or similar position or field.
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in English required.
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Relationship Management - ministry experience working with churches in relationship/partnership management is preferred.

Working Environment: Home office

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 25% of normal schedule
